Münchner Künstlerhaus at Lenbachplatz
The stylish Künstlerhaus Munich is a real piece of the city history of Munich and until today the meeting place for cultural fans in Munich!
Supported by the Künstlerhaus Munich Foundation, a multifaceted cultural programme with jazz, classical concerts, cabaret, readings, exhibitions and a selected programme for children and teenagers is offered. Unique is the lithography workshop that is in use until today as well as the gallery made by and for children "little ART".
In 1900 the house was built in the style of historicism by the famous architect Gabriel von Seidl. The inviting courtyard with the Konrad Dreher Fountain will take you to the magnificent foyer of the house. At the heart of the building on Lenbachplatz is the splendid ballroom with a ceiling height of nine meters. On the ground floor, there are elegantly equipped rooms named after the founding fathers Franz von Lenbach, Ferdinand von Miller and Gabriel von Seidl. The club floor offers a magnificent view over the centre of Munich.
The Künstlerhaus Munich Foundation
The Künstlerhaus Munich Foundation performs both historic preservation and cultural tasks. Since 2006, Maja Grassinger is President of the Künstlerhaus Munich and Chairman of the Foundation Board.
What we do
We are a source of art and culture: We engage in arts of all genres, giving artists access to a wide audience. In the implementation of our multi-faceted cultural programme without the regular receipt of public funds, we rely on the donation of private donors and sponsorship.
We maintain a Munich monument: The Künstlerhaus (House for artists) that was built in 1900 is owned by the Foundation and has a central role in Munich's city and cultural history. The preservation and maintenance of the listed building is the purpose of the foundation and presents us with new organizational and high financial challenges and requirements every year.
